Research Committee
Functions
The Research Committee provides advice to the Department on research matters including strategic policy, distribution of research funding, and research integrity. The Committee promotes the efficiency and quality of research outputs, and ensures that the University’s policies and best practices are implemented.
Membership
The Committee is chaired by Prof Hugh McDermott and its members currently include Prof Richard Dowell, Prof Stephen O’Leary, A/Prof Bob Cowan, Dr Karyn Galvin, Dr Julia Sarant and Ms Rachel Holthouse.
Research Development Grant Scheme
The Committee manages an internal grant scheme. The main aim of the scheme is to support academic staff holding teaching and/or research appointments to progress their research activities by funding, on a competitive basis, high-quality research projects that will enhance the staff member’s competitive status in bidding for external research funds. It also aims to support new and early-career researchers with a track record showing strong evidence of research capability.
