Career Background

I have served in the Army for over twenty years in the administration field. This career has allowed me and my family to live in such places as Portsea, Brisbane, Townsville, Melbourne and Hobart. I have also visited many beautiful (and not) parts of the Australian wilderness that I otherwise would not have seen.

Whilst undertaking my Masters I have also experienced the enjoyment of working in a Primary School and University Library. Both of these experiences allowed me to work very closely with both adults and children.

In these positions I undertook the following responsibilities:

•    Circulation duties – utilizing Horizon & TALIS software databases
•    Updating and attaching electronic documents to the library database
•    Adding metadata on newly accessioned books, journals etc
•    Assisting with library tours and presentations
•    Reference enquiries & research
•    Re-shelving books & weeding
•    Accessioning books for the collection
•    Arranging inter library loans
