The Department of Otolaryngology offers coursework degrees in Audiology and research undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
The Department of Otolaryngology has a thriving student community comprising over 25 undergradaute and postgraduate research students, 80 postgraduate coursework students as well as surgical trainees.
The major research focus is upon improving the hearing of deaf people, particularly improving cochlear implant treatment. The Department has an unparalleled diversity of research areas for students to study including biology, neuroscience, surgery, engineering and psychology.


Research students are supervised by at least two supervisors and all PhD candidature is guided by a PhD Advisory Committee. All supervisors within the Department are up-to-date with current student requirements and supervisory guidelines via University accredited training.
Every student has access to excellent IT resources and a computer. Every attempt is made to provide each research student with desk space and their own computer. Students are also given the opportunity to attend national and international conferences.
We have a dedicated group of staff focused on students and clear and well established guidelines for student academic and pastoral care support as well as dedicated student social events.
